What is Smart Catalog for UCP?

Smart Catalog for UCP scores how easily AI shopping systems can read your Shopify product information, and uses AI to draft suggestions that fill in what's missing. You review each suggestion first, then save only the fields you choose to the product.

What you can do with the app​

  • Diagnose product information: each product gets an AI Readiness Score (the "score") from 0 to 100 and a verdict of Good, Needs Improvement, or Poor.
  • See what's missing: for each item, such as the product title, description, materials, and size, the app shows whether it's registered or missing.
  • Create AI suggestions: AI drafts values for 10 fields, including Target customer, Use cases, and Materials, based on your product information.
  • Apply to products: only the fields you select from a suggestion are saved to product metafields (extra information fields you can attach to a product).

The app starts scoring your products automatically the first time you open it. After that, scores update automatically whenever you add, update, or delete a product.

Basic workflow​

  1. On the home screen, check the score for your whole store and your lowest-scoring products.
  2. Open a product's diagnosis and check which items are missing.
  3. Click the Optimize with AI button to create an AI suggestion.
  4. Review the suggestion, edit it if needed, and apply it.

Things to know​

Results are not guaranteed​

This app organizes your product information into a form that AI shopping systems can read more easily. It does not guarantee that your products will be shown or recommended by Muse or any other AI shopping service. Shopify's official documentation does not state whether the product information AI uses includes app-owned product metafields.

The app is not directly connected to Muse or any other AI shopping service. It never sends your product information to those services directly.

Always review AI suggestions​

AI suggestions are based only on your current product information. Fields that can't be confirmed from the product information are marked Unknown and can't be applied. Fields that AI inferred are marked AI estimate. Check that the content is correct yourself before you apply it.

Only the fields you select are applied. The app never rewrites your product information on its own. Content is appended to the product description only when you choose to do so.

Pricing​

The app is free to use. There are no paid plans or charges.

AI generation has a daily limit​

You can create up to 50 AI suggestions per store per day (default). The count resets every day at 0:00 Japan time. The limit may change, so check the current value in the app. For details, see AI generation counts and limits.

What information the app handles​

  • The app only asks for permission to read and write products. It does not handle orders or customer information.
  • The app sends AI your product information, such as the title, description, vendor, product type, category, tags, and variants, along with your store's domain. It does not send product images or customer information.
  • The app stores management data for each product, such as its score and verdict. It does not store the text of product titles or descriptions. Suggestions you create (each field's value and the excerpt of product information it was based on) are kept for 24 hours after creation and then deleted automatically.
