How AI suggestions are made and what to watch for

AI suggestions are drafts created by an external AI service from your product information. This page explains what information is and isn't sent to the AI, the safeguards against incorrect content, what "AI estimate" means, which language suggestions are written in, and what to check before you apply them.

How AI suggestions are made

When you click Optimize with AI on a product's diagnosis screen, the app sends that product's information to an external AI service and receives a suggestion back. The app decides which AI service is used. There is no setting to choose one.

While the suggestion is being created, you see AI is creating a suggestion. This usually takes 10–30 seconds. If the AI's response doesn't come back in the expected format, the app automatically tries once more. You don't need to do anything.

Information sent to the AI

Only the following information is sent to the AI:

  • Product title
  • Product description (up to 6,000 characters; anything beyond that is not sent)
  • Vendor, product type, and product category
  • Tags (up to 20)
  • Variant option values (up to 20 per option)
  • Variant names and prices (up to 50)
  • Values already stored in this app's product metafields
  • Your store's domain (your store's address)

Information not sent to the AI

  • Product images
  • Customer information
  • Order information (the app does not request permission to read orders or customer information)

The app stores only management data for each product, such as its score and verdict. It does not store the text of your product titles or descriptions. Suggestions you create (the value for each field, plus the excerpts of product information they were based on) are kept for 24 hours after creation and then deleted automatically. Suggestions you apply are saved to your store's product metafields.

Safeguards against incorrect content

Suggestions are based on what is written in your product information. The app uses the following safeguards.

SafeguardWhat it does
Checking the sourceMaterials, Specifications, Cautions, and Comparison points are used only when matching content is actually found in the product information. Otherwise they are marked Unknown
Limiting what can be inferredThe AI may infer content for only 5 fields: Target customer, Use cases, Usage scenes, Gift occasions, and AI summary. Other fields are never filled in by guessing
Removing health claimsContent containing words that suggest medical or health effects (such as cure or heal) is removed from the suggestion, unless the same words appear in your product information. Removed fields are marked Unknown
Ignoring instructions in product informationIf your product information contains text that looks like instructions to the AI, the AI does not follow it

Even with these safeguards, the AI's output is not guaranteed to be correct. Treat suggestions as drafts and always review them before you apply them. A message at the top of the screen also reminds you to review the content and edit it if needed before applying.

AI estimate and Unknown

Fields in a suggestion may have one of these badges.

BadgeMeaningInitial state
AI estimateContent the AI inferred from your product information. Appears only on Target customer, Use cases, Usage scenes, Gift occasions, and AI summaryNot selected for applying. Review the content and select it yourself if it's correct
UnknownThe field could not be confirmed from your product information. The field shows Could not be confirmed from the product informationCannot be selected and is not applied

Fields marked AI estimate may not match the facts, so they start out unselected. Fields such as Materials stay empty because the AI is not allowed to guess them. Adding details such as materials or size to your product description makes it easier to create a suggestion.

If every field is Unknown, you see We couldn't create a suggestion from this product's information and cannot apply anything. You can still click Regenerate.

Suggestion language

Suggestions are written automatically in the language of your product title and description (English or Japanese). There is no setting to choose the language of suggestions.

Changing Display and notification language in settings does not change the language of suggestions. The settings screen also notes: AI suggestions are written in the same language as the product information.

You choose what to apply

Only the fields you select are applied to your Shopify product.

  • You can freely edit the AI suggestion column before applying
  • The apply button is disabled until you select at least one field
  • Product description under Apply to product information (optional) is appended to the end of your product description only if you check it. Your existing description is not changed. A confirmation dialog appears when you check it
  • You can check Product description only after you select at least one field to apply

For step-by-step instructions, see Reviewing and applying AI suggestions.

About results

The app organizes your product information into a form that AI shopping systems can read more easily. It does not guarantee that your products will be shown or recommended in AI shopping experiences such as Muse, or that your sales will increase.

Troubleshooting

  • Materials and similar fields are always Unknown: Your product information may not mention them. Add the details to your product description, then click Regenerate
  • The suggestion came out in Japanese (or English): The suggestion language is based on the language of your product title and description. The display and notification language setting does not change it
  • The suggestion contains incorrect information: Don't apply it, or edit the AI suggestion column before applying
