Glossary

Definitions of terms used in this guide and in the app.

Smart Catalog for UCP

The name of this app. The guide also refers to it as "the app." It scores your product information, uses AI to create suggestions for missing information, and saves the content you choose to your Shopify products.

AI Readiness Score (score)

A score from 0 to 100 given to each product. It appears as AI Readiness Score in the app. It's based on how many items are filled in across three categories: basic information, product attributes, and purchase context. After the first mention, the guide simply calls it the score. For details, see How the AI Readiness Score works.

Catalog score

The score for your store as a whole. It's the average score of all scanned products, including drafts and archived products. It appears under Catalog score on the home screen.

Verdict

One of four categories based on the score. The score boundaries are default values and may change.

VerdictMeaning (default)
Good80 to 100 points
Needs Improvement50 to 79 points
Poor0 to 49 points
Not diagnosedNo score has been recorded yet

Scan

Reading your products from Shopify and calculating their scores. A scan starts automatically the first time you open the app. After that, products you add, update, or delete are reflected automatically. Reading all products again is called a rescan, which you start with the Rescan button on the home screen or the Rescan now button on the settings screen.

AI suggestion

A draft of missing items that AI creates from your product information. You create one with Optimize with AI on the product diagnosis screen. You can review and apply it for 24 hours after it's created. Creating it again is called regenerating, which you do with the Regenerate button.

Apply

Saving the suggestions you choose to your Shopify product. Applying happens only when you select items and press the button. Nothing is applied automatically.

Product metafields

A Shopify feature for adding information to a product in named fields. This app saves items such as target customers and use cases to its own app-owned product metafields. On the settings screen, Storage shows Product metafields (app-owned). You can view and edit them on the product page in the Shopify admin, where they appear under names such as Target customers.

Structured

Information that sits in a dedicated field on the product. For example, materials are structured when they're entered in the Materials field rather than written in the description text. The product diagnosis screen shows one of three states.

StateText on screenPoints
StructuredRegistered as structured dataFull points
Detected in the descriptionDetected in the description (structuring it adds +5 pts)Half the points for that item (rounded down)
Not registeredNot registered (worth 10 pts)0 points

AI estimate

A badge on the AI suggestion screen for items that AI inferred from your product information. It appears only on Target customer, Use cases, Usage scenes, Gift occasions, and AI summary. Because these may not be accurate, they start out unchecked for applying.

Unknown

A badge on the AI suggestion screen for items that couldn't be confirmed from your product information. Items marked Unknown can't be applied. Items such as materials, size and specifications, cautions, and comparison points are marked Unknown if your product information doesn't mention them.
