Uninstalling and your data
This page explains what data is deleted when you uninstall the app, what may remain, how to keep your results, and what happens if you reinstall.
Before you begin
- Before uninstalling, read Keeping your results on this page.
Data that is deleted
When you uninstall, the management data the app stored for each product, such as scores, verdicts, and last-updated times, is deleted.
Settings such as Display and notification language and Receive a welcome email aren't deleted at the moment you uninstall. About 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify sends a request to delete your store's data, and the management data the app stored, including your settings, is then deleted.
Records of how many AI generations you've used aren't part of this deletion. They're removed automatically after 3 days.
The app doesn't store the text of your product titles or descriptions. It also doesn't handle order information or customers' personal information.
Values in product metafields
Suggestions you applied are saved in app-owned product metafields on the Shopify product. The settings screen also shows Product metafields (app-owned) under Storage. This is separate from the data the app stores itself.
When you uninstall, Shopify deletes the definitions of the app-owned metafields (the fields themselves). The values that were written remain for a while, but how long they remain isn't guaranteed. The app doesn't have any process that deletes those values.
Keeping your results
If you want to keep using the content of your suggestions after uninstalling, do one of the following before you uninstall.
- Append it to the product description: When applying, check Product description under Apply to product information (optional), and a Product information section is appended to the end of the product description. This becomes part of the description itself. The app only deletes its own stored data, so this stays in the description after you uninstall.
- Make a copy of the values: Check the values in the metafields section of the product page in the Shopify admin and keep a copy. In the admin, they appear under names such as Target customers and Use cases.
Appending to the description for products you've already applied
If the product has a suggestion created within the last 24 hours, you can apply it again without using a generation.
-
In the app, open the product's diagnosis screen.
-
Press Optimize with AI.
If there's a suggestion from the last 24 hours, no new one is created and you're taken to the suggestion screen. No generation is used.
-
Check the items to apply.
-
Under Apply to product information (optional), check Product description.
A confirmation titled This changes what appears on your storefront product page appears.
-
Press Append it.
-
Press the apply button, which reads something like Apply 3 selected.
Keep the following in mind for these steps.
- When you reopen the suggestion screen, each item's checkbox and content go back to what the AI originally created. Any edits you made before the previous apply aren't kept. If needed, edit them again before applying
- Applying overwrites the product metafields for the checked items with the values shown on the screen
- If the product was updated somewhere else (such as the Shopify admin) after the suggestion was created, nothing is appended to the description. In that case, press Regenerate on the suggestion screen and apply the new suggestion (this uses one of today's generations)
If you've reached today's generation limit, the Optimize with AI button is disabled, so you can't get to the suggestion screen. Try again after 0:00 Japan time (JST).
If the suggestion is more than 24 hours old, create a new one with Optimize with AI and then apply it. This uses one of today's generations.
If you reinstall
If you reinstall the app on the same store, the following applies.
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Settings | Reset to their defaults (Receive a welcome email is on) |
| AI generations used that day | Not reset to 0 |
| Product metafield values | The definitions are recreated, and any values that remain are linked again (there's no guarantee they remain) |
| Scores | The first scan starts automatically when you open the app, and products are scored again |
